The men and women of the Elmbridge area played an active part in the First World War both abroad on the front and at home in the factories and hospitals.

The Second World War affected everyone's lives much more directly than the First World War had done. German air raids killed and injured many people in the Elmbridge area, as well as destroying family homes and local businesses.
